Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Phil 1:6)
The church at Philippi was a consistent encouragement and blessing to Paul. He rejoiced every time he remembered the Philippian believers because of their participation in the gospel. He had confidence that God would complete the good work in them.
I have been through the phase of seeing other people’s flaws and even recalling what people have said and done to me. Whether those things were intentional or accidental, I do not know. But one thing that is eye-opening to notice is how God’s grace abides with people despite their flaws. When I talk about flaws, I am not talking about those who speak against the truth or preach a different gospel than that in the Scriptures; such are cursed according to the word of God (Gal 1:6-9).
But for those who have had an oversight, who did not realize what they did wrong, God’s mercy extends to them when they realize and repent (cf. Lev 4:22-31). Are we patient enough to be patient with others? Continue reading
This piece is addressing all those who feel like a prisoner in faith, where we don’t see progress in our own personal journey, which sometimes impacts our faith towards God’s church.
While studying Zechariah recently with fellow workers, we spent time to pray and encourage one another with the truth found in God’s word. I’ve been going to church pretty much every week ever since I was a baby. Naturally, attending Sabbath services was and still is a very regular part of my life. Sometimes I find it odd when people ask me what my plans are for the weekend, because for me, 50% of it is always the same thing. “Well on Saturday I’ll be at church most of the day, as per yooj, and on Sunday…I’m not really sure yet.”
Whenever something becomes routine and repetitive, it can start to feel ritualistic, and at times even meaningless. Church is no exception. I, and perhaps many others, often feel that I go to church simply because it’s just what I do, and I’ve always been taught that I should. Even when it feels like a drag, I still go almost purely out of obligation stemming from either myself, or from responsibilities I have at church.

‘Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? In comparison with it, is this not in your eyes as nothing?’ (Haggai 2:3)
Especially in recent months and years, the church has seen a growing unrest, one that has made itself known in waves, both in the whisperings that happen in person as well as in the bold blog posts and discussions held on the internet.
Some of us ask, “How could the church do something like this to a worker like that?”
Others ask, “If the church is in the right, why doesn’t it say anything?”
Still others ask, “How can it be possible that the true church is like this?”
