Eagle’s Wings

“He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”

(Isa 40:29-31)

This is the promise of the LORD. When we are weary, tired, and faint, we will be able to continue our walk on the paths of righteousness if we wait on Him. God will renew our strength to mount up with wings like eagles, that the path of life no longer be arduous and difficult.

Even those who have strong determinations to live for the LORD will feel despondent in the course of life if they rely only on themselves–“even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall.” Determination inspires the impetus, but a victorious life is not accomplished through determination alone. The only way to continue embarking on this journey is through the power of God.

“Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength.” Waiting on God means kneeling in prayer regardless of whatever happens in life. It means never walking away from God or giving up in the race of faith. When we believe that God is always by our side and that He will strengthen us through prayer, He responds according to our faith by mounting us up with wings like eagles, carrying us to higher ground. This is God’s promise to every one of us. Every time we pray, we are exercising our wings so we can fly higher. Through prayer, our wings remain strong, powerful, and free. Have you prayed today?
