Why Doubt?

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus… let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful” (Heb 10:19-23)

Amid trials and tribulations have you ever lost confidence and asked, “Is God hearing my prayers”? When there seems to be no answers from God, have you started questioning your worth and if God is still listening to you?

It’s easy to have an assured heart and to feel confident in God’s presence when life seems to be going well. But when we have been waiting for God to take us out of our difficulties and the exhaustion of holding onto God’s promises starts kicking in, we may lose confidence. Either we become less assured that God sees our pain or that we start doubting ourselves. If we are not careful, doubtful thoughts coupled with losing confidence can cause us to drift away from God.

The truth is, God remains with us and has given us an unwavering confidence. When Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself for us, we have been set apart by His blood to be His chosen ones. To have the status of His chosen ones tells us that we have our lives cared for by God and ultimately, have the privilege to enter His Most Holy Place and receive eternal life. Oh, how precious this is!

When we need to regain assurance, we can turn to this reason – being His chosen ones. Because we belong to Him, He has given us a great priest that is Christ who rules over us in every step of our life whether in good times or in bad times. While many still do not know Him, Christ has come to us to let us know Him and to reveal to us the keys to salvation.  While many do not have Him, Christ has chosen to provide for our needs. While many rely on themselves, Christ continually reassured us that we can rely on Him instead. And while we pray to God, Christ is interceding for us to help make our prayers reach God.

That is why Hebrews 10:23 tells us to hold unswervingly to the hope we profess. It is because He is faithful to his chosen ones. When doubts arise, remember to ask yourself “Why should I doubt when God has chosen me?”

No matter what our circumstances are, let us hold onto your confidence to know that God is abiding with us in every moment for He is faithful till the end.
