Too Tired to Pray

Preacher is here!
It’s time for morning prayer.
I can’t get out of bed. Too tired!
I barely slept. I’m finally getting restful sleep after praying early in the morning.
My body needs rest to recover.
I itched all night.
My body aches and my arms are numb.
God, surely you won’t deny me a little more slumber?

I can’t face getting out of bed.
I don’t want to look in the mirror.
I don’t want to shake and vac.

Oh how I miss those days when I could just get up and go.
Wake up, pray, watch the sunrise at the beach, go for a run or swim.
Now…now… I’m a walking snowflake.

“My child, what did you promise me?”

Dear Father, please forgive my weaknesses. I am so unworthy of your love.
I desired to seek you and dwell in your house all the days of my life!
To behold the beauty of the Lord.
And to inquire in your holy temple.
I asked for the wind to blow upon me and let my fragrance flow…

Preacher‘s last visit here was 80 days ago. There are only 8 morning prayers whilst he is here.

Today I am still able to go to pray in your House Lord.
Today I still have the opportunity to offer thanksgiving in your holy temple.
Today, whilst I am still living and breathing… whilst I’m still mobile… I will seek you.

Today I will get out of my bed and come into your presence and worship YOU!

Sunshine in My Soul

“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Cor 4:6)

God has illuminated our hearts with the knowledge of His glory, revealed in the face of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is our guiding light. He has given us sunshine in our souls. God desires to provide for our total well-being—spiritually, physically, and materially (3 John 2).

Mental and emotional as well as physical health are of major concern in our stressful world. As science and technology advance, we learn more about the complex interaction among the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of life. When we do everything with gladness and moderation, then our body, mind and soul will naturally feel at ease and peaceful.

Walking in the King’s Highway

“For the LORD will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; Joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.” (Isa 51:3)

This passage does not just show God as a gardener of our lives, but also as our comforter. Our lives are spiritual gardens and God is the gardener. He changes us and comforts us so that the dry and barren soil of hearts grows into something beautiful.

God’s Perfect Arrangement

On 21 August 2022, I excitedly embarked on a flight from Australia to Scotland. However, this holiday was not what I had envisaged at all. Nothing happened as planned. There was sadness and there was joy, hand in hand with a peace that this world cannot afford.

God prepares for us in all aspects of our life. We may not know at the time an incident occurs but further down the line, when we reflect on our circumstances, we can see that there are no coincidences in life, and everything is by the wonderful arrangement of God. God not only prepares for us, He also comforts us in times of sorrow.

He Shall Direct Your Paths

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Prov 3:5-6)

In life there are many gates (also known as milestones, major events, or challenges). What are they?

Gates of love: Finding a spouse
Gates of your career: Job hunting
Gates of growth: Birth, growing pains, menopause
Gates of health: Sickness, disabilities
Gates of death: Facing death, family members’ death
