God’s Love through His Commandments

When God administered the Ten Commandments, He began by stating, “I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage” (Ex 20:2). In Egypt, the Israelites had no freedom, dignity, or hope. Through His deliverance, God revealed Himself as the true God who cares for them. His commandments reminded them of His salvation and kept them from falling back into any form of bondage to sin. God gave them the commandments so they would have true freedom. God gave them the commandments because He loved them.

He Is Love

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16)

God loves all mankind as parents love their own children. God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. His love extends to all nations and peoples. God’s most wonderful love is expressed in this fact: “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (Jn 3:16).
