He Shall Direct Your Paths

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Prov 3:5-6)

Gates of love: Finding a spouse

When the Wind Blows

I recall sitting in the wee hours of the morning listening to a sermon centred on Song of Solomon 4:16: “Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden, let its spices flow ….”  I remember listening to the speaker and feeling wow… this verse is truly beautiful. I want to live this verse. I want the wind to blow upon me so that it will bring out my fragrance to the Lord. At the same time, I was fearful of what the wind might bring.

When I was feeling inexpressible peace and joy after my grandfather’s passing in September 2022, I wondered to myself, “Is God preparing me for something more challenging?”  There was a feeling that God was training me in prayer to trust in Him and that in the future, the wind would blow upon me.

Let us look at what the Bible says about the spiritual aspect of delayed gratification and later, we will discuss some ideas on how to help our kids develop this virtue.

The future is something that holds a lot of uncertainty, especially when thinking about the big decisions in life such as which school to go to, what career to take, and eventually, choosing a companion who can walk with us on this journey of faith. With all these uncertainties, it is very easy to get overwhelmed by our emotions and thoughts. However, as Christians with the Bible to guide us, we do not need to live in uncertainty, unsure about where we should go or what we should do, because we have the truth to show us the way.

I Know God Cares for Me!

In August 2004, six months into my first pregnancy, I attended a routine antenatal checkup with my husband. The midwife was moving the Doppler around my abdomen unable to locate the baby’s heartbeat. She told me that it wasn’t working so she needed to go and find another one. At that moment, I instinctively knew something was wrong.  She returned later and told us to go to the hospital as they had better equipment. On the way to the hospital, I called my mum and began to cry uncontrollably because I knew that the Doppler was not faulty.
