He Heals the Gentile Woman’s Daughter

Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour. —Matthew 15:28

The manifestation of miracles is related to the faith of the seeker. The miracle of healing the Gentile woman’s demon-possessed daughter is one example. The Canaanite woman, who humbled herself to beg for mercy despite the Lord’s harsh words, demonstrated not only her great faith but also persistence in seeking God’s mercy and grace.

If It Had Not Been the Lord Who Was On Our Side

“‘If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,’ Let Israel now say—” (Psalm 124:1)

As this year draws to a close and a new one begins, take some time to look back and reflect on the past year. If God had not been in the equation, how would things have turned out? What kind of changes would there have been? Imagining what life would have been like without God reminds us of His continual faithfulness, amazing grace, and beautiful plan that He has for us. It reminds us of the importance of counting our blessings, cultivating a heart of gratitude, and developing the habit of always thanking God in all circumstances.

All-Sufficient Grace

Even as Christians, we all have our own problems. But what happens when we are in need of help and no one can help us? And what if, while we are weak, others come to us with their problems? Perhaps we would all be too tired or burdened to really care for one another. Or perhaps we would feel discouraged and helpless. Overcoming Complacency

During a discussion about faith, an anonymous member asked me about complacency in servitude and faith, and how to overcome it. Often, we find that as youths who begin to have responsibilities in church, or are becoming introduced to ‘leadership’ roles, it is very easy to develop a sense of self-confidence, or self-entitlement towards our faith. We may start to feel a sense of being slightly above others, or that we are ‘better’ than others simply because we have been appointed various roles within church and attend more activities in church. We feel as if we are fine in our faith, and that others should imitate us. Often if we allow complacency to stay in our hearts, it can take root and bear fruit as pride. Continue reading
