If It Had Not Been the Lord Who Was On Our Side

“‘If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,’ Let Israel now say—” (Psalm 124:1)

As this year draws to a close and a new one begins, take some time to look back and reflect on the past year. If God had not been in the equation, how would things have turned out? What kind of changes would there have been? Imagining what life would have been like without God reminds us of His continual faithfulness, amazing grace, and beautiful plan that He has for us. It reminds us of the importance of counting our blessings, cultivating a heart of gratitude, and developing the habit of always thanking God in all circumstances.

Gather up the Fragments That Remain

A reflection on John 6:4-14:

Here, a familiar story of Jesus Christ demonstrating His limitless power that transcends all physicality. The story of the five loaves and two fish.

As we know, Jesus fed five thousand men with five loaves and two fish, a miracle witnessed by the apostles. But, there was also a second miracle when Jesus commanded the apostles to collect all the fragments, all the remains, for nothing to be lost. This again shows his overwhelming power, that even when the five thousand men were filled, there were enough to fill twelve baskets from the same five barley loaves that fed them.
